Press ReleaseCSS update on PacTerm, PKTerm and offsite programming.Updates for PacTerm and PKTerm due later this year!Muscle Shoals, Alabama. February 13, 2004: Creative Services Software announced that version 3.0 of PacTerm for Windows and PKTerm for Windows will be released later this year. The retail price for both products will be $99.95 and upgrades from version 1.4 or earlier will be $49.95. Those who have purchased release 1.5 or later will get a free upgrade to version 3.0. Version 3.0 not only includes new soundcard modes, but also an integrated logging program to keep track of QSO’s, DXCC and even do light contesting. It will support exporting to ADIF for use with the ARRL Logbook of the World and to other logging programs, provide radio and rotor control, and be able to sync with Packet Clusters that are connected by the Packet window. For Pactor and GTor users, release 3.0 supports binary file transfers using the ‘PakRatt’ protocol, designed by AEA for the PakRatt for Windows product. Many MARS users use this protocol now for message transfers and it will be compatible with those users who run the old 16-bit version of PakRatt. A new user interface has been designed that keeps all windows (packet, HF, logging) in one main frame window. HF modes still can be accessed with a click of a mouse, but now the window has the addition of using a drop down list box to choose the internal and soundcard modes. Anyone can purchase release 1.7 today and receive a free upgrade to version 3.0. PacTerm and PKTerm for Windows release 1.7 is $79.95 and the upgrade is $29.95. In other news, CSS has decided to keep all its programming resources in the U.S. rather than move some programming to India. Offers from many companies in India have been coming in, but CSS has decided to decline those offers. CSS President Rick Ruhl, W4PC , cites lack of experience with TNCs and ham DSP programming, as well as the desire continue to support US resources in software development.
