Kantronics
and Creative Services Software announce
partnership with 32 bit Windows 95 and
Windows NT Terminal Programs
Program to
take advantage of Host Mode
on Kantronics TNC line.
Huntsville, Alabama.
August 17, 1997: Kantronics and
Creative Services Software announced a partnership on a
new 32 bit Windows 95 and Windows NT based program for
the Kantronics line of TNCs at the Huntsville Hamfest
today. This new program takes advantage of the new
features in Windows 95 and Windows NT, and integrates
these features with the 'Host Mode' of the Kantronics
TNCs.
The product is planned for release in the fourth quarter
of 1997 with availability for downloading via the World
Wide Web or 3.5 inch disk. It will retail for less than
$80.
The new 32-bit program will require Windows 95 or Windows
NT with 8 meg of ram and 2 megabytes of free hard drive
space. The program supports Com1 through Com4. It
supports the Windows interface with 'point and click'
commands for the VHF or HF modes that the Kantronics TNCs
support. The program is written in robust C++, using the
Microsoft Foundation Class Library.
This Windows 95 and Windows NT host mode terminal program
for the Kantronics TNC takes advantage of the true
multitasking capabilities of Windows 95 and Windows NT
and uses standard Windows commands for ease of use. From
CW to HF packet, from single- to dual-port TNCs, it's now
more fun to use the digital modes of amateur radio.
Capabilities include:
- G-TOR® and G-TOR monitoring
- Multi-stream, multi-port support
- Switch between streams with a click of the mouse
- Text and binary file transfers
- User defined colors and fonts
- Separate window for non-packet HF modes, from CW
through NavTex
- Save QSOs to a Microsoft Word compatible
file
- Multiple monitor windows (including network
traffic window)
Windows, Windows 95 and Windows NT are
Registered Trademarks of Microsoft Corporation.
