test first Windows 95 and Windows NT Florence Alabama , August 5, 1997: Creative Services Software announced today that its new 32 bit host mode program for the KantronicsÔ line of TNCs will go into beta test this week. The program takes advantage of the advanced features of Windows 95Ô and Windows NTÔ . It is set for release the fourth quarter of 1997. Company President Rick Ruhl, whose amateur call sign is N4GDO said, "This is the next step in Packet Radio for the ham. It is the very first 32 bit based Windows program for the Kantronics TNCs. The program will act like Word for the TNC, with multiple connections running in multiple windows on the screen. Since we are using the advanced features of Windows, this product is compatible with the Microsoft OfficeÔ line, including Microsoft WordÔ " Product features include: support for all modes on all Kantronics TNCs, each Stream has its own window and transmit buffer, support for the major callbooks on CD, user configurable colors and fonts, a bottomless receive window, automated connections, binary file transfer, runs true 32 bit multitasking and multithreading and is easy to use with online help at your fingertips. "The program is written in robust C++ ", Ruhl said. "which allowed us to add features to the program that couldnt be done in other languages." The KantronicsÔ line was chosen due to the advanced design of both the TNC and the host mode interface. Kantronics is based out of Lawrence, Kansas.
