INSTALLATION

Before setting up your Radio Control, check to see if you have everything you need.

  • The radio cable you received with this software.
  • Two 3.5 inch floppy diskettes or a CD containing this software.
  • A compatible radio and computer (see Features and Requirements)
  • A 1/8 inch stereo to mono adapter

Attach the stereo to mono adapter to the stereo end of your cloning cable and plug that into the 1/8 clone jack on the back of your radio.  See your radio manual for more details.  Then plug the RS-232 end of the cable into an open serial port on your computer.

Now that your cloning cable is setup, go into your radio settings and change the remote control input terminal to the clone jack.  See your radio manual or the software manual for more details.

To install the software, place Disk 1 into your floppy drive or place the CD into your CD-ROM drive.  Locate the SETUP.EXE file for the Marine Radio Control software and run that.  For example if you have the software on floppy diskettes and have Disk 1 in floppy drive A:, do the following:

  • Click on Start Image of Windows Start button.
  • Select Run
  • Type the following into the "Open" box.
    A:\SETUP.EXE
  • Follow the installation instructions.

AFTER INSTALLATION

The first time you run the Marine Radio Control software, you will get a screen telling you that you need to configure the COM port and baud rate for your computer and radio.  Press the OK button and the program will proceed to the next screen.  Once the Radio Setup screen appears, be sure to check the following items.

  • Select the COM port (Serial port) on your computer where the RS-232 end of the interface cable is attached.
  • Select the baud rate of the COM port.  Typically this would 4800 for all radios.
  • Choose the default NMEA address for the radio that you have.
  • Type in the software's serial number that was given to you at the time of purchase.

Press the OK button and you are now ready to start using the Marine Radio Control software.
