The program will then ask you to enter the COM port and the baud rate for the TNC. The COM port is the serial port where the TNC is connected. RECEIVING YOUR FIRST WEFAX In tuning a Wefax signal, the carrier frequency is 1.9 KHz below the assigned frequency on upper-side band (USB).When using a Kantronics TNC, because of firmware design, the Wefax signal is received on the VHF port. There are two ways to tune a Wefax signal. The first method is to tune by ear. If you are using the KPC Series you will be limited to this method. The second method is to construct a Y-cable, which will input the Wefax audio into both the HF and VHF port simultaneously. The KAM series use the HF port to tune the Wefax signal, so this is the most accurate method. The exception to this is the KAM 98, which is a single port unit. When tuning a Wefax signal using the TNC, you will tune it similar to tuning a RTTY signal with the mark and space at the opposite ends of the tuning bar. Once you have completed the tuning of the station, click on the Wefax button on the toolbarNational Weather Service HF Radio WeatherFax HF-Fax Worldwide Radiofacsimile & SSTV |
